Most riders think of France or Switzerland when they imagine the Alps, but the Austrian Alps offer some of the finest motorcycle roads anywhere in Europe.

Austria is known for its smooth flowing passes, purpose-built alpine roads and quieter valleys. Famous routes such as the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, Nockalmstraße and Gerlos Pass deliver spectacular scenery and exceptional riding.

Our base in Carinthia also provides easy access to the Italian Dolomites and Slovenian alpine roads, giving huge route variety within a small area.

Many riders discover Austria later than France — and often wonder why they didn’t ride here sooner.

Yes. Alpine Roads can arrange extended 14-day tours as well as fully bespoke journeys for individuals or small private groups. These trips are personally designed and guided, allowing the route, pace and destinations to be tailored around your preferred alpine experience. Availability is limited and arranged on request, so please get in touch to discuss your plans.

Yes. Riders participate using their own road-legal motorcycle.

You must have:

• valid motorcycle insurance
• breakdown cover including repatriation
• personal travel / medical insurance covering motorcycling

We will always try to help where possible, but riders remain responsible for their own motorcycle and recovery arrangements.

We strongly recommend having breakdown cover that includes motorcycle repatriation.

If necessary, the group will continue while recovery arrangements are made.

If you need to leave the tour early due to illness, injury or mechanical issues we will assist where we can, but riders remain responsible for their own travel and arrangements.

This is why appropriate travel and breakdown insurance is essential.

No. Alpine Roads tours are designed for experienced riders and do not provide motorcycle training or riding instruction.

Yes. You can meet with us at one of our UK partner motorcycle dealerships or biker hubs.  Alpine Roads will also be attending the ABR Festival this summer and you’re very welcome to come and say hello. That said, bookings and availability are handled directly online, and you don’t need to attend ABR to reserve a place on a tour.

No. Riders should already be confident riding their motorcycle for full days including mountain roads.

That is perfectly normal. Riders travel at their own pace and regroup at agreed locations.

Yes. Alpine Roads provides insolvency protection in accordance with the UK Package Travel Regulations.  Your booking is protected under these arrangements.

Days are designed to enjoy the riding rather than rush through it. Distances are sensible, with regular stops and time to enjoy the scenery.

Yes. All tours include full support, including route guidance and assistance throughout the day if needed.

Yes. The 12 Day and 14 Day tour s are designed with riders and pillions in mind, with comfortable hotels and support to make the experience enjoyable for both.  You must ensure your insurance covers pillion travel.

Yes. We include complimentary overnight accommodation in Folkestone or Calais on the evening before departure.

The evening is deliberately relaxed. We’ll meet as a group for an informal tour briefing.

Evening meals are not included, giving you the flexibility to eat beforehand or choose something locally. The focus is on a calm start and an early, unhurried departure the following morning.
